Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)

The South Korean government's flagship scholarship for international students, funded by the Ministry of Education through the National Institute for International Education (NIIED). Covers full tuition, a monthly living stipend, airfare, a one-year Korean language program, settlement and resettlement allowances, and health insurance, across undergraduate, Master's, PhD, and research-only tracks. Applicants must be non-Korean citizens (as must both parents), under 25 for undergraduate or under 40 for graduate tracks, with a GPA of roughly 80% or higher; selection runs through either the Embassy Track (via a Korean embassy) or the University Track (direct to a GKS-affiliated Korean university). Deadlines are set independently by each embassy and university and vary by country, typically falling between February and April each year for the following academic year's cohort.
