Monash Graduate Scholarship (Research Training Program)

The Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS), combined with the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP), provides a living stipend and tuition fee coverage to both domestic and international students undertaking a Research Doctorate (PhD) or Research Master's degree at any Monash University campus in Australia. The 2026 international round offers an annual living allowance of approximately AUD 37,145-53,608 depending on the specific award, plus a AUD 2,000 relocation allowance and a AUD 1,500 annual research allowance. International recipients can also be packaged with a tuition fee scholarship covering full course fees and Overseas Student Health Cover. Monash runs four scholarship rounds each year; the relevant international round for the upcoming academic year opens 1 April and closes 31 August. To apply, prospective students first need an invitation from a Monash faculty after submitting an Expression of Interest and securing a supervisor; no separate scholarship form is required, since all eligible applicants are automatically considered for every scholarship they qualify for. Selection is based on academic merit, research outputs, and prior research experience, with the most competitive offers going to applicants who can show first-class honours equivalency or a strong research Master's background.
